Naughty Dog’s most anticipated sequel for The Last of Us was met with a series of events — delays, a massive story leak, and the overall report of developer crunching. It was inevitable that some people who read the story leak decided not to get the game on launch, while some are still excited to get their hands on the game. The Last of Us Part II focuses more on narrative just like its predecessor and it’s not your ordinary post-apocalyptic zombie game.
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s CEO, Jim Ryan, said in a CNET interview that the ‘demand’ of The Last of Us Part II is ‘strong’ — stronger than the pre-order numbers of Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man, another critically acclaimed and successful PS4 exclusive in 2018 which generated tons of sales.
Jim Ryan also added that he hopes this is another defining game this generation. “We hope this’ll be a defining game for this generation.” says Ryan in the interview.
Gaming publications have already received their review copies of the game and people can expect the reviews to come out on June 12 at 12:01 PT / June 13 at 3:01 Philippine Time.
The Last of Us Part II is expected to release on June 19, 2020, exclusively for the PS4.
