Kojima Productions has recently announced its expansion into the film, TV, and music industry with its new LA-based film and TV division.
The new HQ is based on Los Angeles right now and headed by former PlayStation Business Executive Riley Russell. He will be working to turn the Kojima Production properties into pop culture franchises beyond video games.
Russell shared with GamesIndustry.biz that these franchises are currently under development at Kojima Productions. No additional information was revealed.
The founding of Kojima Productions happened last December 2015 after Hideo Kojima, the legendary creator of the Metal Gear franchise left Konami. It has only released on game, which was its popular and successful Death Stranding title. It was also partly funded by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Just recently, there were rumors about Xbox and Kojima having talks about making a publishing agreement for something. No details on what it would be, possibly a game.
Kojima did confirm last October 2021 that he was working on a new project. No details on the true nature of that project is, but no further news about it came out.
