Take-Two states that the factor that contributed to the slow sales of critical success Marvel’s Midnight Suns is the “imperfect release window.” The company believes the game has still underperformed at retail despite the big success.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns launched in early December 2023 because it got delayed instead of its original October release. PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions were planned to be released at a later date.
The game got great feedback from various critics and review sites from day one, which was considered a critical success for the game company, but unfortunately, the sales told a different story. Just within the month of its launch, its original price got a very big discount, suggesting that its publisher was not happy with its commercial performance.
Take-Two CEO Confirms Marvel’s Midnight Suns Slow Sales
This was now confirmed by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier when he chatted with Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick in an interview. He claims that the release window made the game flop at retail. He does believe that the game will sell well in the long-term like the other titles that Firaxis have developed through the years.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is now available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
