Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Gameplay Trailer Did Not Show Final Version of the Sequel

Developers recently confirmed that the first look at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gameplay trailer had a dirty little secret.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Gameplay Trailer Showcased the ‘Black Suit’

At the end of last month’s PlayStation Showcase, Insomniac Games revealed the awesome gameplay trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It revealed the powerful symbiote suit of Spider-Man (Peter Park) and showcased the new abilities and powers of Spider-Man (Miles Morales). For players who do not actually know about the symbiote suit or have not watched Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, that black goo is an alien that gives Peter unimaginable power but in return it corrupts his morality, turning off his ethics and does not care for the well-being of civilians and villains alike. In other words, evil Spidey.

    Gameplay Clip Was Off

Some fans have recently commented online that they have noticed something off with the trailer. The visuals were excellent, but they could not help but notice that there were some visual bugs along the way. It was not that obvious but eagle-eyed viewers were quick to point it out. One fan asked Insomniac Games to clarify on this and it was replied to by its Community Director James Stevenson on Twitter.

    Insomniac Games Confirms

Treyshawn Porche bluntly asked Stevenson on Twitter if the gameplay footage was actually the final build of the game already. Stevenson, jokingly replied with a GIF of a Late Night show host saying no. So yeah, the gameplay video that was shown on the PlayStation Showcase was NOT the final build of the game and the developers are still deep in development. It was just a glimpse of what to expect in the final build.

Confirmation Just Made Release Take Longer

Not surprising at all since Insomniac Games has not shared the official release date of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and have not announced that the game has already gone gold. It is definitely still in development and the developers just wanted fans to see that they are working really hard on the game and there is already enough content for them to show during the showcase. It just needs more time to bake in the oven. When will the game get released? It is possible it will be in late 2023, the holidays would be good. If it still needs more time though, it might get delayed to next year, early 2024 at best.

    Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches later this year on PS5.
