Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Changes Unveiled

Game developer Insomniac Games recently revealed the many changes they have made to the remastered version of the original Marvel’s Spider-Man.

The first thing that they shared was the graphical updates they did to the game. Community Director James Stevenson shared that the team behind the upgrade was hard at work in updating the city’s environment to take advantage of the PlayStation 5 hardware. They have now introduced ray-traced reflections and ambient shadows for this game, which meant there are now true reflections on the winds of buildings and it looks way better with new skies and weather.

Characters have also gotten a new upgrade, a large one at that. They now have higher fidelity skin, eye, and teeth shaders. Strands of hair are now individually rendered. All of these bring higher detail for the characters.

The biggest change of them all is the recast of Peter Parker’s face. In order to better match the Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, they had to cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console.

With the PS5 console power, there is now a high frame rate via Performance Mode. This allows a 60fps frame rate for the game.

Players will enjoy the near-instant loading for the PS5 version, but they can still turn the humorous fast-travel animations if they still want it. Spatial 3D audio was added as well on compatible headphones, and the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers were implemented. New photo mode features were brought to the original game from the Miles Morales game. Players can now place lights in the environment and change the Spider-suit after being lined up for a shot.

Insomniac Games also revealed that the Amazing Suit will be added and it is just one of the three new suits for the original game remastered version.

The US and Canada only versions of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales physical editions of both Standard and Ultimate Editions will have launch versions. It will include a voucher that offers an early unlock for two suits including the announced T.R.A.C.K. Suit by Marvel Artist Javiar Garron. The other suit will be revealed near at launch.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered will be available on PlayStation 5 on Nov. 12. Marvel’s Spider-man: Miles Morales will also be released on the same day for the PS4 and PS5 consoles.
