Game company Microsoft has announced that the creators of The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Wolfenstein, DOOM, and other popular franchises Bethesda is now part of Team Xbox.

Specifically, Microsoft has entered into an agreement to acquire ZeniMax Media, parent company of Bethesda Softworks. Bethesda is a talented group of 2,300 people worldwide that composes of different creative studios like Bethesda Softworks, Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios. These groups are responsible for popular franchises like Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, DOOM, Prey, Dishonored, Starfield, Quake, and many more.

Bethesda and Microsoft have a history together throughout the years. According to Xbox Wire, The Elder Scrolls franchise was first brought the original Xbox. Bethesda was also the early supporter of Xbox Game Pass, which brought their titles to new audiences across different devices. Microsoft will add Bethesda’s iconic franchises to the Xbox Game Pass for console and PC.

Microsoft is excited for the roadmap of Bethesda’s future games like Starfield and other titles in the future. The game company is pleased of this new milestone and hopefully this will lead to better releases in the coming years.

Now everyone in the gaming industry is abuzz of this new development. Some are asking if this means Bethesda games will now be truly exclusive to Xbox consoles and PC platform, while others think it is going to be a timed-exclusive with Microsoft having the advantage of 6 months to 1 year ahead of Sony Interactive Entertainment. Some are saying exclusivity to Xbox and PC would be impossible because it would raise a lot of “pitchforks” in the community. We will be waiting for Microsoft and Bethesda to explain that later on.
