Monolith Productions’ upcoming Middle-earth: Shadow of War is apparently going get an extended epilogue and will somehow connect directly with The Lord of the Rings. This was all confirmed by Monolth’s Vice President of Creative, Mike de Plater, in an interview with GameInformer (October 2017). In addition, de Plater promises players will get an epic final showdown with the Witch-king and the Dark Lord himself, Sauron.
The ‘extended’ epilogue serves as to be reason for players to continue after the main story is finished. de Plater wants the players to have a purpose in continuing to play Shadow of War.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War officially has 3 Acts, however, in this recent reveal, de Plater introduces the extended epilogue, or what he considers to be Act IV – the Shadow Wars. “Act IV is this extended epilogue.” de Plater told the publication. He promised that it will not be just a post-story content but players will get to have “new elements to [Shadow of War’s] gameplay”.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War is considered to be the final installment of the Talion and Celebrimbor’s adventures. The game is expected to launch on October 10 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
