Capcom has officially unveiled Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a massive expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds, during Summer Game Fest 2026.

The expansion is scheduled to launch in 2027 and will continue the story of the Forbidden Lands while introducing a host of new content, including a brand-new region, additional monsters, expanded combat mechanics, and the return of Master Rank hunts.

The debut trailer offered a first look at the Skybound Eyrie, a new locale set high above the clouds. Players will explore floating islands and aerial environments as they continue the Expedition Team’s journey into uncharted territory.

One of the expansion’s biggest additions is the introduction of Boost Actions, a new combat mechanic that allows hunters to gather energy from monsters during battle and unleash enhanced attacks and abilities. The new Boost Bracer system will be available across all weapon types, providing improved mobility, stronger offensive options, and additional combo routes designed to deepen combat.

Capcom is also making exploration more accessible through improvements to field support systems. The fan-favorite Seikret mount will receive new traversal abilities, including a glide dash and faster response times when summoned, allowing players to move through the environment more efficiently.

As expected from a Monster Hunter expansion, new monsters will play a central role in the adventure. The trailer confirmed the return of the Elder Dragon Kushala Daora, while teasing additional powerful creatures that have yet to be formally revealed. One mysterious silhouette shown during the presentation has already sparked speculation among fans about the return of another iconic Elder Dragon.

The expansion will also introduce Master Rank content, raising the difficulty ceiling and offering veteran hunters tougher challenges, stronger monsters, and new equipment to pursue.

Capcom has yet to announce a specific release date for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, but the expansion is currently targeting a 2027 launch.
