Mortal Kombat Co-Creator Ed Boon has recently teased new details about Mortal Kombat 1, focusing on the possible returning fighters for the game.
After the big reveal of the next entry to the Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat 1, fans have been scrambling to get every bit of information before NetherRealm Studios will reveal its first gameplay footage on Summer Game Fest. Interestingly enough, their source of info is none other than the co-creator himself, Ed Boon, who has been dropping many tease “bombs” on his Twitter account recently. This recent one might just give fans an idea of who will be coming back to the roster.
Mortal Kombat 1 New Tease Hints New Character
Yet another one of Boon’s cryptic teases that he shares on his Twitter account and this time, he shows a roster from an old Mortal Kombat game. It reveals characters that have been shown already in the latest trailer which includes Liu Kang, Shang Tsung, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kung Lao, Princess Kitana, and Mileena. It was also revealed a while ago that Johnny Cage will return with his alternate skin based on Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Aside from the ones already mentioned above, the other characters in the old-school roster are Jax, Reptile, Reiko, Jarek, Kano, Quan Chi, Shinnok, and several others. This is actually a roster from the classic Mortal Kombat 4 and these were the available fighters back then.
One Mortal Kombat 4 Character Comes Back
The clue is on Boon’s caption of the image which says “Some making their way back into action..” with a dragon emoji. It confirms that the character related to the dragon emoji will return in Mortal Kombat 1. Some think it is Reptile since he is just like a reptile like a dragon. Others think it is Reiko, the loyal general of Shao Khan who was once believed to be the Outworld tyrant himself reborn. The third prediction is Jarek, a member of the Black Dragon clan which also means that Kano is back too.
Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled to be released on September 19, 2023 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
