Mortal Kombat 1 Official Announcement Trailer Welcomes You to the New Era

It’s finally here, the official Mortal Kombat 1 announcement trailer and it looks bloody gorgeous.

After previous teases from Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon and the official Twitter account of the franchise, NetherRealm Studios has finally confirmed Mortal Kombat 1, a full reboot of the franchise, but a continuation of Fire God Liu Kang’s era. The visuals seem to use Unreal Engine 5 as it is millions better than its predecessor, Mortal Kombat 11.

The currently confirmed characters based on the trailer are:

    • Raiden
    • Kung Lao
    • Princess Kitana
    • Princess Mileena
    • Scorpion
    • Sub Zero
    • Shang Tsung
    • Fire God Liu Kang

With technology advancing forward, so does the visuals. That means the brutality has also leveled up to a whole new level because the trailer shows a lot of gore. New players who have not tried any Mortal Kombat game in their entire lives might have to look away because it’s a lot of blood, innards, and broken bones.

“It’s in Our Blood,” says the description of the video. It reveals that there will be a new fighting system, game modes, and Fatalities so get excited fans!

Mortal Kombat 1 pre-orders will go live tomorrow, May 19, 2023 at 10 AM PT. Pre-ordering the game will get Shang Tsung as a playable character. PlayStation and Xbox players will get Beta access, which will be available in August 2023.

Mortal Kombat 1 launches on September 19, 2023. It will be available on PC via Steam and Epic Games, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
