2K has recently revealed that the new NBA 2K24 cover athlete and it honors one of the few legendary basketball superstars of all time.
Another year, another NBA 2K title to release. After the success (?) of NBA 2K23 last year, it is time to move on to the next entry to the NBA 2k series. Last year, the franchise honored the legendary basketball superstar Michael Jordan with his special edition, but the standard and various other editions were different stars. Today, a new cover athlete has been chosen and it honors one of the best who has passed on.
NBA 2K24 Cover Athlete is the Black Mamba
According to the latest Twitter post on the NBA 2K account, the cover athlete for NBA 2K24 is the great Black Mamba, the late Kobe Bryant. According to the post, choosing him was to “share the Mamba Mentality with the next generation.”
Two Special Editions
The post also revealed that there are two special editions to choose from: Kobe Bryant Edition and Black Mamba Edition. Players will be able to pre-order their copies starting tomorrow. No specific details yet, but there could be more tomorrow or in the coming days.
The post also has the 8 and 24 numbers posted. This could signify August 24, 2023, a possible release date, but 2K has not officially confirmed that yet.
