Reports are now spreading across about this unpopular feature that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will have when it launches later this year.
Confirmed by VGC’s source within Rocksteady, the leak came from a post on the infamous 4chan forums. The image shows that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will definitely get a battle pass — a monetization aspect of a game mainly added to free-to-play games that rewards players for completing certain challenges in day, week, or an entire season.
According to VGC’s source, the battle pass focuses more on cosmetic items which you can use to customize your favorite Suicide Squad character. Furthermore, the leak also shows other in-game currencies that players need to grind for to upgrade and customize a character’s skill tree.
VGC was informed by their source from Rocksteady that players won’t “start off great” like what they got from Batman: Arkham Knight‘s Batman, Rocksteady’s final installment of the Batman Arkam franchise.
I have previously feared that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be akin to Crystal Dynamic’s Marvel’s Avengers, and this leak proves that Warner Bros. Games is pushing to monetize their games that’s focused on online co-op. However, Warner Bros. Games Montreal’s Gotham Knights did not have any battle pass, and the only way for players to unlock costumes is by completing side missions, looting crates, and beating thugs.
Time and time again, we can’t get decent multiplayer game without publishers adding monetization. It’s disappointing to see that Rocksteady directly pushing a battle pass for a full-priced game release.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is Rocksteady’s latest superhero-based action game coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 on May 26, 2023.
