CAPCOM is currently ‘discussing the future’ of non-numbered Resident Evil remakes.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica Getting a Remake?!
It was recently discussed in CAPCOM’s shareholder Q&A that the company was inquired about its plans to continue “high-end visual remakes of only the main numbered entries in the Resident Evil series.” CAPCOM replied that it was “carrying out discussions regarding the future expansion of this series so it can be enjoyed by a wide audience.”
CAPCOM’s reply seems to hint that it is definitely eyeing on other titles other than the most popular numbered Resident Evil games. The top one on the list of non-numbered RE titles is Resident Evil Code: Veronica which has grown its popularity in recent years.
RE Code: Veronica Loved by FAns
Resident Evil Code: Veronica was first released on Dreamcast in 2000. It was then remastered for the PS3 and Xbox 360 later on. Many fans have been crying out to make a remake of this game since the announcement of Resident Evil 2 Remake so this news about a hint of making it possible gives them hope.
Fans Worried
Fans have their worries though. After the launch of Resident Evil 3 Remake, they feared that CAPCOM might change a lot of features if they make one for RE Code: Veronica. RE3 Remake did not get good feedback from critics saying that it was not fully faithful to the original content compared to its predecessor, RE2 Remake, which was a massive hit. After that backlash, it seems CAPCOM has been careful of remaking titles since RE4 Remake was another big hit due to its faithfulness to the original content.
Will CAPCOM make Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake? Discussions are still being made, but with the demand from fans, there is a good chance it will happen.
