Older Need For Speed titles to be de-listed starting today

Announced on the official Need For Speed subreddit by verified community manager Max_Joker, five Need for Speed titles will be removed from online stores starting May 31.

The titles to be removed are Need for Speed Carbon, Need for Speed Undercover, Need for Speed Shift, Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed, and Need for Speed The Run. These titles will no longer be available for purchase in anticipation of the online services going down on August 31, 2021.

Current owners of any aforementioned games may still enjoy the online services until August 31st, at which point these games will be offline only. Max_Joker states that this decision was not easy and the developers are now “shifting gears to focus on the future of Need for Speed” so, rest assured there will be more Need For Speed to come.

Following up, Max_Joker states that the reason for the de-listings is because the player count is not significant enough to keep the infrastructure around these older titles up and running.

Need for Speed Most Wanted (2012), Need for Speed Rivals, Need for Speed (2015), Need for Speed Payback, Need for Speed Heat and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered will remain available for purchase and available with an EA Play subscription.
