Outriders by People Can Fly has already released its playable demo that offers a preview of what to expect in the game and the feedback has been great so far. The full game though, according to Lead Designer Piotr Nowakowski, is a different kind of beast.
According to the latest Official PlayStation Magazine issue (April 2021 Issue), Outriders offers a variety of powers and abilities to choose from with the unique classes. A player could use those powers to improvise their offensive power in order to vanquish difficult foes. One fine example is to pull lava up from below enemies to launch them into the air. Another is to layer elemental powers into guns.
“The game gives you this opportunity to basically build crazy, crazy things,” laughs Nowakowski.
Players will be able to make different kinds of crazy weapons so to speak like shotguns that can freeze enemies in place. Nowakowski also confirms that everything that they can use in this game has a skill tree tinkered with. Classes, weapons, abilities, and mobs.
The armor will work in the same way as well. Each armor set will offer different kinds of boosts that will increase a class’ innate powers. As an example, the Pyromancer’s Reforged armor offers an increase of power and range of attacks. Nowakowski says that it is important to ensure every ability and unlock is visibly represented in this game so that players can easily find them.
Outriders will launch on April 2 for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. A new animated trailer was recently released.
