Work Suitability, also known as Work Skills, is one of the major aspects players look into when choosing Pals to assign in a base to help with work. The higher the work skill level a Pal has, the better and more efficient they are on a specific task. Although these work skill levels are set for every Pal species in the game, these levels can be increased further through the Pal Condensation mechanic. Read ahead as we talk more about increasing Work Skill Levels in Palworld, share the things that should be considered prior to condensing, and talk about the benefits and the drawbacks of aiming for the higher levels.
Reach Level 5 Work Skill through Pal Condensing
Pal Condensation raises a Pal’s base stats for the first three ranks it reaches. Once a Pal reaches its 4th rank or star, all of its work skills will be raised by a single level; this is only true for work skills that a Pal innately has, so a Pal with no level for a particular work skill to begin with will not gain a level for that said work skill.
Because of this, Pals that have the natural maximum work skill level of 4 can have their work skill raised to level 5.
Before going through the process of aiming for a particular level 5 work skill, there are a few things to consider prepare first.
Unlocking the Pal Essence Condenser
The Pal Essence Condenser can be unlocked after reaching Technology Tier 14. It can then be built on a base using the following materials:
- x20 Paldium Fragment
- x20 Ingot
- x5 Ancient Civilization Parts
Cost of Pal Condensing
Condensing a Pal to its 4th star can take quite a lot of time and effort due to the increasing requirement of fodder Pals to reach the next rank/star. Listed below are the amount of fodder Pals required per rank:
Rank | Number of Pals required |
---|---|
0 | 0 |
1 | 4 |
2 | 16 |
3 | 32 |
4 | 64 |
In total, you will need to have 116 Pals of the same species, plus the 1 Pal that you are ranking up, for a total of 117 Pals. This is relatively achievable for common Pals, but it gets harder the rarer the Pal is, which would be the case if you want to aim for high work levels as natural high work levels usually appear only on uncommon and rare pals.
Breeding for Passive Skills
Breeding to get a Pal with the most favorable passive skills on it is usually done prior to condensing, as a Pal’s rank cannot be passed on to its offspring. The breeding process alone is time consuming, but it can be scaled up to have multiple pairs breed in parallel. Additionally, the unwanted offspring can be used as fodder for the condensing process.
Boost from a work skill level increase
The boost that a Pal could get if their work skill goes up a level can be quite significant, with tests showing that going up from level 4 to level 5 shows an increase of around 80% to 100% work productivity. This increase would be beneficial if the base does not have an available slot that could just be filled up with a Pal with the same work skill and work skill level.
Pals with the highest Work Skill Level per Work Skill Type
There are only a few Pals that naturally have a level 4 work skill, not to mention that there are work skill types that only go up to level 3 naturally. Listed below are the Pals that have the highest work skill level among others in a particular work skill type.

The table does not include a Farming Pal as all pals that have the Farming work skill only have it at Lv1, but they could still be increased to level 2. Nevertheless, there are still notable pals that could benefit from a rank up such as a Vixy since condensing it will also increase its Partner Skill which improves that quality of spheres that it can dig up.
