Perfect Dark Reboot Development Has No Troubles Assures Microsoft

Development is still a go.

Microsoft has recently stated that the Perfect Dark Reboot development is still in good hands.

Head of Microsoft Studios Matt Booty recently spoke at PAX West to talk about the increase of their developers working together on new games.

“How we make games is evolving,” said Booty. “The idea of a single team under one roof really doesn’t happen that often anymore.”

Booty then talked about The Initiative’s Perfect Dark, which was rumored to have a troubling development. He also read about it online and has denied this. In fact, the opposite has happened according to him.

“We just did this big partnership with Crystal Dynamics and I read online that this must mean there’s a problem,” he revealed. “It’s quite the opposite.”

“You’ve got this veteran team at Crystal Dynamics, a big AAA team with over a hundred people that becomes available – of course we want to work with them, particularly if they’ve made a game like that before.”

Booty was then asked how they would reboot Joanna Dark into the modern consoles with newer visuals and such. He said that they would need to carefully do it as he admitted that the game some things have not aged well and perhaps some of the aspects of the game are one of them.

“What’s super cool about Perfect Dark, about Joanna Dark, is the super agent fantasy, the Bourne Identity James Bond kinda thing. That’s a cool meme, it’s something people want to lean into. But we’ve got to make sure that comes forward in the right way.”

Perfect Dark reboot is still in development.
