I remember playing Phantasy Star Online 2 many years ago. And I immediately fell in love with just how customizable your character is and the many different combat styles that you can take up. But after so long, I never expected the game to make a comeback in the form of an overhaul called New Genesis.
If you haven’t already heard, Phantasy Star Online 2 is set for a massive expansion update which overhauls graphics, gameplay, and introduces a new open world for players to explore with friends and strangers alike. With new combat mechanics, quests, and more characterization options New Genesis is practically a third installment rather than an update. And if you’ve been waiting for a long time for it, there’s some good news: it’s coming out real soon!
So when is it releasing?
This June 2021. Although when exactly this June is unknown for the time being. But considering it’s already nearing the end of April, that’s really close. You can expect to be playing New Genesis by the time summer comes around. And if you’re asking, no. This release date isn’t exclusive to Japanese players. New Genesis will be releasing the same time for Japan as the rest of the world.
You even have the chance to try it out much earlier if you’re that interested. Simply sign up for their closed beta that Sega is holding from May 14th to 17th. You’d best hurry though. The slots are limited and it’s first come, first serve.
