Game company Microsoft might be just getting an improved Xbox controller in the future after Xbox Head Phil Spencer talked about their rival’s new DualSense controller design and features.
In a recent episode on Kinda Funny Gamescast, Spencer talked about how Xbox will not be releasing any other accessories like a VR headset, but he did kind of suggest that their controllers might get an upgrade.
“When I think about our hardware roadmap, and I really love the evolution of Liz Hamren’s team and the work that they’ve done,” he said.
“We’re definitely thinking about different kinds of devices that can bring more games to more places. There’s probably some work that we’ll do on the controller. I think Sony’s done a nice job with their controller and we kind of look at some of that and [think] there are things that we should go do.
“But [we’re] probably not in the more bespoke accessories place right now,” he added. “We just look at what happens on Windows and other places and see if there’s a unique opportunity for us. Right now I don’t think there’s anything that’s obvious to me.”
Spencer praised the Dualsense controller’s unique features and he thinks that Xbox might just add those features as well for their own controllers. He did not specifically state that they were going to add haptic feedback and such, but it was kind of hinted by him.
The Xbox head did clarify that while he loves how the games industry is pioneering in different fields, but they are just not into the VR headset.
