According to Sony Interactive Entertainment’s representative, fans will be made aware of when the pre-orders of the upcoming next-gen console PlayStation 5 will go live.
SIE Head of Global Marketing Eric Lempel recently shared this news to Geoff Keighley during the recent Summer Game Fest live stream. He said that fans should not worry about when pre-orders will go live because they will definitely give them a heads up when it happens.
There have been reports about fans going out to retail stores and already standing in line for pre-orders, which was of course false. Even the guys at PlayStation are confused as to why this is happening right now. Keighley found it entertaining that the fans are really eager to pre-order this early when there is no announcement yet.
Lempel stated:
I think it’s safe to say for your viewers, we’ll let you know when pre-order will happen. It’s not going to happen with a minute’s notice. We’re going to at some point let you know when you can pre-order PlayStation 5, so please don’t feel like you need to go run out and line up anywhere until you receive official notice on how that’ll work.
While the rumors have been put to rest (finally), it still stands that the release window is still in the holidays 2020. Until then, we all have to wait patiently for Sony to make the official announcement and just save up enough money to make that pre-order.
In other related news, Keighley gave his impressions on the DualSense controller. He compared the sizes of the DualShock 4 and the new PS5 controller, which the latter was quite larger. He also said that it had more heft, weighs a little bit more, and feels more structured.
