PlayStation 5 User Experience Preview Video Released

Game company Sony Interactive Entertainment has released a new video that gives a first look at the PlayStation 5 user experience.

The new video covers what the players can expect of the UI when the PS5 launches this coming Nov. 12. This new PS5 console user experience (UX) focuses on the player in order to provide them the true next-gen experience with deeper immersion.

The new UX will introduce several new features that are designed to make gaming experiences more fun, engaging, personalized, and social. One of the newest features is the Control Center, which gives players quick access to almost everything they need from the system with just a single press of the PlayStation button on the DualSense wireless controller. The best part is that it does not make them leave the game at all.

Another new feature is the Activities, which is designed to bring players closer to the key elements of gameplay. With this feature, players can see it on-screen cards in the Control Center. This allows them to discover new gameplay opportunities, go back to the things they missed, and just jump direction into those levels or challenges they want to play. Some of these Activity cards can be put in picture-in-picture mode. Again, it does not let players leave the game.

Doing stuff on the interface like navigating in them, switching between games, and just joining in online matches can happen fast. SIE has rebuilt the entire software stack from the console to the network, which gives players the true next-gen experience. They believe that in order to make players spend more time playing games, SEI wants them to spend less time waiting to interact with the system.

SIE does say that this is still the pre-production environment so there will be changes later on.

PlayStation 5 will be available on November 12 for North America, Japan, and other few select countries. Ther rest of the world gets it on November 19.
