Nintendo has now revealed that there will be a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Day 1 patch which will be needed for a certain feature.
Fans have already expected that the day 1 patch for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be needed in order to play online gameplay. Nintendo shared details of the patch ahead of the launch saying that players might need to clear up some space for it. Surprisingly, the patch will take up at least 1 GB of free space, which is quite large for a title of the Pokémon franchise. Installing it will upgrade the game to version 1.01.
Nintendo noted that players must have a least the basic membership for Nintendo Switch Online. If they want to join in competitive online play like Tera Raids or even trade with other players, they will need to have this.
Players will also need the update in order to receive the Special Pikachu. After updating, they can choose Get via Internet from the Mystery Gift feature in the game. They can do this until Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet launch on November 18, 2022 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
