Sony Interactive Entertainment has recently added on PS4 and PS5 the new Sony Pictures app.

The new Sony Pictures app just got added today on the PS4 and PS5 consoles and it offers a rather nice bonus for PS Plus Premium and Deluxe subscribers. It was revealed that members who subscribed for PS Plus Premium and Deluxe will get free movies to enjoy.

The new app is called Sony Pictures Core and it offers the ability to rent or buy up to 2000 new and classic Sony Pictures movies. These films include Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Equalizer, Uncharted, and more.

Premium or Deluxe subscribers can enjoy access to “a curated catalog of up to 100 movies” to stream on demand. These movies will not include ads and the line-up will be updated periodically. The initial lineup of movies available includes Looper, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Elysium, and Resident Evil Damnation.

Some of the Sony Pictures movies will have an exclusivity period in the app that can be purchased first in certain regions. Gran Turismo movie is the first of these movies that will be available that can be purchased in some markets.

“This is just the beginning,” Sony says, “and we plan to evolve the offerings and benefits of Sony Pictures Core over time – including a selection of hit anime content from Crunchyroll.”
