Sony Interactive Entertainment will be discontinuing the PS5 Accolades feature that got introduced.
PS5 Accolades Positive Vibes
The PS5 Accolades was a feature that would be awarded to fellow players in online games to commend their gameplay. This could either be helpful and welcoming for teammates and opponents.
Barely Used
Unfortunately, it seems almost no one is using this feature at all to encourage anyone. The official website of PlayStation has now announced they will be discontinuing this feature soon.
Here’s the statement from SIE:
In fall of 2022, the Accolades feature on PlayStation 5 will no longer be supported. The feature hasn’t seen the level of usage we anticipated, so we are refocusing our efforts. We encourage the community to continue to send positive messages to one another.
Other Features Might Go Away?
While SIE is still going to discontinue this feature, they are still hoping that players will continue to encourage others and send positive messages to one another. There are other user interface features on the PS5 too like the Cards and more, but some think they are not necessary and are not used all the time.
It was a good effort though as it seemed to give PS5 players a tool to share positive vibes with other players instead of toxic messages.
