PS5 Update Introduces New Audio, Social and Accessibility Features

Improves the PS Remote Play, new audio options, support for larger capacity m.2 SSDs, and more!

Sony has recently released a new PS5 update globally which introduces new features to the new gen PlayStation console.

These new features included in the latest PS5 update were first introduced in the recent PS5 beta. The newest global release includes the following:

  • New accessibility features, such as using a second DualSense controller for assistance
  • New audio options that allow 3D Audio powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech to be enjoyed on compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled HDMI devices
  • New ways to connect with other players and customize your multiplayer sessions
  • Support for larger-capacity M.2 SSDs (up to 8TB).

There are other new features introduced like support for PS Remote Play on more Android devices with some new enhancements coming to PS App in the coming weeks.

The new PS Remote Play support will now include more Android devices. It can stream games from the PS5 and PS5 console to another device including smartphones and tablets, PCs and Mac via the internet or home network. This offers more options to enjoy games when away from the living room. Starting today, it will be available on devices running Android TV OS 12.

The Voice Command options have been improved with the latest update. Note that this is only limited to US and UK.

The PS App got improvements too with reacting to messages with emojis and see a preview of someone’s Share Screen before joining the party on PS App.

To clarify on the M.2 SSDs though, the hardware should meet the requirements needed outlined in this link.
