    Remnant 2 Root Earth Guide

Root Earth is one of the worlds that players can visit in Remnant 2. It is the final world at the end of each player’s playthrough, where the Earth has been fully overrun by the Root. Players must weather through the wasteland and get to the center of the source to end the spread of corruption to the rest of the realms.

Read ahead as we talk about Root Earth and how to get through it in Remnant 2.

    Remnant 2 Root Earth Walkthrough

Root Earth is one of the worlds that remains constant throughout every run, just like the The Labyrinth. It will always be the final world that players can visit in every run and its events are not randomized.

To access Root Earth, you must obtain all three Index Segments from Yaesha, N’Erud, and Losomn, then take all of them back to The Keeper at the The Labyrinth. The Keeper will then use The Index to open a direct portal to Root Earth.

Root Earth has three areas that will always be in the same order:

    • Ashen Wasteland
    • Corrupted Harbor
    • Blackened Citadel

    Ashen Wasteland

Ashen Wasteland - Remnant 2 Root Earth Walkthrough

Ashen Wasteland is the first area of Root Earth that appears to be a city that is fully covered with Root and is sprawling with Root enemies. There are no separate dungeons in here, but there are quite a lot of spots that hide special items and gear, so it’s worth to spend some time to check around.

These are the items that can be found in the Ashen Wasteland:

    • Weapon
      • Hellfire
      • Steel Katana
    • Gear
      • Dendroid Set, full
    • Accessories
      • Reaping Stone
      • Zania’s Malice
      • Haymaker’s Ring
      • Ankh of Power
      • Dying Ember
    • Relic
      • Resonating Heart

The boss of this area is Cancer. It has the ability to make roots come out of the ground whenever it slams its arms. Most of its attacks are physical and it can attack you from a distance by charging at you. Bait it to charge, then time your evade to get the chance to see its weak point on its back.

When Cancer is defeated, you will get the Necrocyte Strand as its unique drop.

    Corrupted Harbor

Corrupted Harbor - Remnant 2 Root Earth Walkthrough

Corrupted Harbor is the second area of Root Earth that is located at the harbor section of the city. Plenty of enemies will be guarding the path up ahead, including ones that can call upon more adds.

These are the items that can be found in the Corrupted Harbor:

    • Weapon
      • Decayed Claws
    • Accessories
      • Escalation Protocol
      • Probability Cord
      • Flyweight’s Sting
      • Kinetic Cycle Stone
    • Relic
      • Decayed Heart

The boss for this area is Venom. It wields a massive sword that has a long range, so stay clear whenever it does its swing attack. It also has the ability to summon roots that can do ranged damage which can easily crowd the arena.

When Venom is defeated, you will get the Dread Core as its unique drop.

    Blackened Citadel

Blackened Citadel - Remnant 2 Root Earth Walkthrough

Blackened Citadel is the final area of Root Earth and is mainly the arena where you will be fighting Annihilation, the final boss. Before heading in, you will have a cutscene with Clementine and The Keeper first where you can either head back to Ward 13 to prepare or proceed with the boss fight.

Once you’re ready to go, talk to Clementine and she will break the barrier that leads to the arena. You will then be facing Annihilation, and entity that has complete control over the Root. It also has the ability to control reality, often shifting into a sort of simulated world. It mostly has laser attacks that can limit the safe area in the arena, plus thick roots that can block sections.

After depleting enough of its health, it will enter its second phase where its attacks grow stronger and the timing go tighter. Once its health is fully depleted, a cutscene will play that continue over to the ending of the run. To read more about the ending, check out our Ending Explained guide.

Defeating Annihilation will reward you with the Forgotten Memory as its unique drop.
