Like you, I was also worried that Leon was going to become just a small section of gameplay in the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem. Although it’s been confirmed that he’s the second protagonist after Grace Ashcroft, fans started wondering online of just how long Leon’s part in the game actually will be. Thankfully we got a confirmation from the developers.
How Long Do You Get to Play As Leon in Resident Evil Requiem?
You can play as Leon S. Kennedy almost as much as you’ll be playing as Grace Ashcroft. This was confirmed by game director, Akifumi Nakanishi, in an interview with the Automaton who said that the sections where we’ll get to control Leon will “almost equally” split with that of Grace’s.
This won’t be like Resident Evil 2 where we’ll be able to select which protagonist we’d like to play as. Rather, we’ll be switching perspectives between each character on certain sections of the story. We’ll see events from Grace’s perspectives then switch to Leon.
According to Requiem director Nakanishi, the paradigm shift between Grace’s gameplay to that of Leon’s would be like “jumping into a cold bath after sitting in a hot sauna.” The developers described Grace as the biggest scaredy cat of the franchise which is a stark contrast to Leon who is a jaded veteran. Not only does Leon have access to martial arts, he also has a slick, cool new car too, courtesy of the collab between Capcom and Porsche.
We’ll see more of Leon S. Kennedy when Resident Evil Requiem releases this February 27, 2026.
