Resident Evil Village Early Access Email Scam Discovered by CAPCOM

CAPCOM is warning fans and players out there eager to get their hands on early access of Resident Evil Village that there is an email scam making its rounds right now.

Old woman witch doctor is watching you!

According to the Japanese game publisher, they are not currently emailing players this way and these “individuals” are not working in behalf of their company. They are asking those who have received the emails to delete them right away and not download any files attached to it.

Here’s the message media outlet VG247 got from CAPCOM:

We’re sending this message as we’ve been made aware that there are currently emails circulating that pretend to contain ‘Early Access invitations’ to Resident Evil Village.

The sender address is being displayed as no-reply(at)capcom(dot)com.

We want to inform you that these messages are NOT from Capcom and appear to be phishing attempts by an unauthorized third party. If you have received such a message, please DO NOT download any files or reply, and delete the message immediately.

This is not the first time that this type of email scam has happened recently. A month ago, Ubisoft posted a warning on social media that an email scam is going around the internet telling unsuspecting fans that they are offering early access to Far Cry 6 beta, which was false. It has seemingly faded, but it might have reappeared in this new scam.

Careful guys, do not be fooled. Just wait for official announcements.

Resident Evil Village will launch on May 7 for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
