Ubisoft has officially confirmed that the upcoming title Skull and Bones delayed again, which is now the sixth time.
Skull and Bones Delayed for Another Time
In a new press release by Ubisoft, it was confirmed that Skull and Bones will not be launching with its scheduled release date, which was March 9, 2023. It is now confirmed to be sometime in early 2023-24. Assuming this is the fiscal year, it seems the earliest release would be in April 2023 and could be as late as December 2023.
Ubisoft revealed that an upcoming beta will be introduced soon to showcase the results of the additional time it needed for improvement. The company claims that these big changes have been confirmed in the latest playtests they have done. The sixth delay will now be used to further polish the game and make a balanced experience for players.
Three Cancelled Projects, Changes to the Company
Aside from this new surprising update, Ubisoft also announced that they have just canceled three unannounced projects due to the major challenges they are now experiencing. Other factors that contributed to their decision to cancel were the underperformance of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Just Dance 2023. They are also planning to restructure the company, which could possibly mean the dismissal of some employees.
Ubisoft is now making a new strategy for the rest of the fiscal year and lowering its expectations for the last fiscal quarter. This is the result of the company facing major challenges as the whole industry now continues to shift to mega-brands and long-lasting titles that can reach players all over the world.
Big changes are coming to Ubisoft and unfortunately, a lot got affected.
