Sony Avoids Another Event This Year Due to Coronavirus

The coronavirus has been really devastating as of late. It has been sending the world into a panicked state. This virus of Chinese origins has caused Sony to once again avoid another event. This time, it’s for PAX East Showcase. As mentioned in their PlayStation Blog.

This is a particular shame, cause many were looking forward to trying out the event for a chance to play The Last of Us 2 demo. Justin Massongill mentions that it is the “safest option” in the face of the virus. To understand just how serious this virus is, more than 75,000 people have been infected and more than 2,000 deaths have been reported.

Sony Interactive Entertainment made the decision to cancel its participation at PAX East in Boston this year due to increasing concerns related to COVID-19 (also known as “novel coronavirus”). We felt this was the safest option as the situation is changing daily. We are disappointed to cancel our participation in this event, but the health and safety of our global workforce is our highest concern.

Unfortunately people looking forward to try the Nioh 2, Doom Eternal, and The Last of Us 2 will have to wait another time.
