You might be curious about how your boost pack works in Starfield. Because of rough terrain, you’ll get around faster by taking advantage of the verticality and speed that a boost pack offers you. Here’s a guide that shows you how to use a boost pack in Starfield.

How to Use Boost Packs in Starfield?

Press jump when midair to use your boost pack. You must have the Boost Pack Training skill at any rank and have a backpack with boost packs. You can then double jump at anytime to use your boosters.

It’s important that you have at least one rank in Boost Pack Training to use any of the boost packs in Starfield. You can get this early by choosing certain backgrounds in the Character Creation screen at the start of the game or ranking the skill up during your playthrough if you’ve already started. The more you invest in the Boost Pack Training skill, the better you’ll be at using boost packs.

Using boost packs in Starfield consumes fuel, and you’ll have to wait for fuel to recharge to use it again. Making investments in Boost Pack Training improves the efficiency of using boost packs. You can find this skill under the Tech skill tree.

    Starfield Boost Pack Training Skill

    Boost Pack Training Skill:

    • Rank 1: You can now utilize boost packs.
    • Rank 2: Using a boost pack expends less fuel.
    • Rank 3: Boost pack fuel regenerates more quickly.
    • Rank 4: Doubles previous bonuses.

Boost Packs in Starfield can also be really useful in terms of combat since they give you a lot of movement and verticality to work with. Even though a lot of planets already have low gravity you can take advantage of, boost packs are still extremely useful and offer you unmatched mobility if you choose to master the Boost Pack Training skill.

Starfield Constellation Pack - Basic Boost pack

There are also multiple different boost packs in the game. You need to have one equipped in order to utilize your Boost Pack Training skill. One of the earliest boost packs in Starfield you can get is the Constellation Pack, which is rewarded to you when you reach The Lodge in Jemison.

    Starfield Boost Pack Types

There are multiple boost pack types in Starfield. Here are the ones you can find in the game:

    • Basic Boost Pack: Basic level boost pack. No special features.
    • Power Boost Pack: Less fuel but more powerful thrusters.
    • Skip-Velocity Boost Pack: More fuel but less powerful thrusters.
    • Balanced Boost Pack: A balance between Power Boost and Skip-Velocity.

Each boost pack has its own advantages, but you’ll mostly be picking between Power Boost and Skip-Velocity Boost. Unless you prefer the Jack-of-all-trades Balanced Boost Packs, The Basic Boost Packs are something you’ll be using early in the game until you find something better.
