Street Fighter 6 Publisher Under Fire for Super Expensive TMNT DLC Costumes

CAPCOM is currently heavily criticized by Street Fighter 6 fans for the high cost of the game’s recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DLC costumes.

Street Fighter 6 Publisher Under Fire for Expensive DLC Costumes

Fans are really getting angry about this outrageous pricing for Street Fighter 6’s collaboration DLC: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costumes. According to the DLC description, each costume will cost 750 Fighter Coins or the equivalent of more or less $15. Since purchasable DLC is a way of business for the publishers, of course, players are not able to buy 750 Fighter Coins in the exact amount. They will need to buy 610 coins for $12 and then add an extra 250 for $5.

That is for one costume only, but if they want four costumes for Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo, they will need 3,000 Fighter Coins. To get that, they will have to pay $50 for 2750 coins and $5 for 250.

Players can still grind for the Fighter Coins too if they want but that will take them weeks and even months to do.

Only Costumes for Avatar not New Characters

It must be clarified that the TMNT costumes are just costumes and not new characters. They are costumes for the avatar in the single-player World Tour mode, lobbies, and in avatar battles. They are not available for use in standard competitive multiplayer so it is curious as to why CAPCOM have priced them quite expensively. Compared to the recent DLC character Rashid which was only 350 Fighter Coins, these DLC costumes are too pricey.

It could be possible that the collaboration with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is quite expensive and the costumes needed to have the equivalent price. CAPCOM did not confirm this though.

Players are now currently protesting in their own way by creating avatars that look like the Turtles. “Saved $15,” a redditor stated.

Street Fighter 6 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
