One’s Own Master is the eighth main quest of Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn. Alphen, Shionne, and the rest of the gang decided to revisit Ulzebek, but Alphen’s hero status is being revered so much by the people of the small town that he’s questioning himself if he’s doing it wrong.

Gather Materials in the Iglia Wastes
Before heading out to Iglia Wastes, you may want to spend some time checking out Ulzebek to get some items and some Gald, which is in the middle of the pond.
Head northwest of Ulzebek to reach the Iglia Wastes. Checking on the map, you’ll see that there are three spots where you can gather the materials needed for this quest.
Go to the closest marked location by climbing up the vines. At the edge of the cliff are chests containing a Harmonic Armor and an Elixir. Jump down to find the Sturdy Pumice Stone that is needed for the quest.
On to the southwest location, you can take the detour and head up the vines to the south, then use Dohalim to grow the vines leading to the highest cliff to find the Wedding Dress. Next, head into the passage southwest to find x3 Fine-Grained Clay.
Head towards the north and go through the pond, then gather x3 Sturdy Reed.
Speak with the client in Ulzebek
Fast travel back to Ulzebek, talk to the client, and hand over the materials to him.
Speak with Doc
Next, speak to Doc, and he will tell Alphen something to help him with his dilemma.
Rest at the inn in Ulzebek
Go inside the inn and take a rest for the night. On the following morning, Alphen decides to talk to the people in Ulzebek with the help of Nayth to tell them to start being more independent and not rely much on their hero.
Go to Niez
Alphen decides to tell the message to the rest of the citizens from the other cities, starting with Niez. Fast travel to Niez to find that the residents have started wearing masks.
