NACON has now revealed that the Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown delayed again.
Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown Delayed to Next Year
The game was first announced in 2020 and is the third game in Test Drive’s open-world Unlimited sub-series. It was going to originally launch in September 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Last May 2022, it was revealed to be delayed to 2023 and the PS4 and Xbox One versions got cancelled. Now, this new announcement will change the release date again.
Today, it has been revealed that it will be released in early 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The Nintendo Switch logo is still present on the official website, but the mention of the console was not present in the press release that was released today.
Closed Beta Happening Soon
There is some good news from this announcement. It was revealed that the first closed beta will be happening on July 24, 2023 and this will last for three days. Players who are interested to join the closed beta can sign up for the Test Drive newsletter to get the chance.
The livestream also revealed the first Solar Crown gameplay after a long time in development. Creative Director of Development Studio KT Racing Alain Jarniou was the one to showcase the demo. It started on how players would start up a new game in the Solar Hotel. They have their own hotel rooms, can view progression, and can meet up with other players and even create a group.
Jarniou was joined by fellow developers like Associate Producer Camille Courtier and Lead Game Designer Guillaume Guinet. They were together with some content creators to look at some racing and social features.
Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown is an open world driving and lifestyle experience taking place in Hong Kong Island, built at 1:1 scale.
