With the recent worldwide release of Gears of War 4 on October 11 for Xbox One and Windows 10, it had received a lot of praise from critics like IGN stating “Gears 4’s most graphically impressive moments are tied to the weather, with Windflares (basically giant electrical dust storms) producing swirling dust, swaying trees, and dancing foliage.” and Destructioid praising the game’s “haunting envionrments.” Our Gears of War 4 review is currently in the works for us to know how great the game really is. The Coalition created another masterpiece from the Gears of War series. But this time, they did get some help from one of our local game development companies in the Philippines — Synergy 88 Digital.
Gears of War 4 follows the story of Marcus Fenix’s son, J.D Fenix, where the world is once again in danger. To get out of the tight spot he’s in, Fenix may have to call on his dad’s help and the reunion between father and son will bring them face to face with extreme forces of evil.
The Coalition selected Synergy 88 Digital as a partner development team for their 3D assets. This makes Synergy 88 Digital the first Microsoft-certified studio in the Philippines for game art outsourcing.
With an excellent and stunning potential that Synergy 88 Digital showed, The Coalition’s Director of Production, Walter de Torres, said:
“I would like to thank Synergy88 Digital for their contribution in making the environments of Gears of War 4 come to life. Their quality was world class and they delivered when we needed them to. We look forward to collaborating with them on future projects.”
“Triple A titles like Gears of War 4, require a small army of developers and several years to complete. Many times additional help is needed to bring a title of this magnitude to market. Microsoft chose a handful of key partners from around the world to provide additional development help. One of the art content partners was Synergy88 Digital located in Manila, Philippines.” – Walter added.
It’s nice to see that a Philippine-based development company like Synergy 88 Digital has shown the potential of Filipino developers. Now, with Synergy 88 Digital as part of the elite game development team, the Co-Founder and Managing Director, Jackie Chua has this to say:
“Our investment in hardware and software, particularly human resources is paying off. Two years ago, this partnership was just a gleam in the horizon. Since then we’ve consistently and continuously grew our capabilities, our facilities, and our people because we foresee bigger, more resource-driven engagements with our partners.“
