The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Gets Listed on eShop with Important Detail (Update)

Nintendo might have just let slip an interesting detail.

Update: It is confirmed that The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom will be $69.99 for its standard edition. Pre-orders are now live.

Nintendo accidentally lists the upcoming and most anticipated title of this year, The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom on its online shop eShop, and let slip a very important detail.

According to various sources including well-known informer Wario64, the accidental leak revealed the game’s price: $69.99. If this was not just an error, this will be the first time that Nintendo has charged more than $60 for a standard Switch title.

The game page is there on the eShop website but the price is no longer visible. It only says “releasing in 2023.”

Twitter game sales analyst Benji-Sales revealed that various retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop have suddenly stopped taking pre-orders for the game. It was supposed to be $59.99 for the pre-orders but now it got pulled.

Later today, Nintendo will be hosting the next Nintendo Direct stream and will be roughly 40 minutes long focusing on Nintendo Switch games that will be released in the first half of 2023. If Tears of the Kingdom will not get delayed, the current release date falls into the first half of 2023. The developers behind the title have not made any official statements to confirm or deny if the game was joining the stream.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom launches on May 12, 2023 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
