The Medium Devs Reveal Longer Times to Finish Game with Work-From-Home Situation

The global pandemic COVID-19 has changed the lives of many people last year and could be this year as well. Many game developments have taken longer to finish due to the work-from-home strategy after some countries have imposed lockdowns. The guys behind upcoming video game The Medium is no different with the situation.

The Bloober Team has taken their stance of work-from-home as well to safeguard the safety of their employees. This has though taken a toll with the development.

Lead Designer Wojciech Piejko shared their experience with media outlet Kotaku in a recent interview.

Piejko revealed that it has become harder for the development team to finish the game in these times. He pointed out that the last months are more difficult now. Before, when they find a bug they would just go to the programmer’s room or designer’s room and talk to them. It will only take 5-10 minutes if they were in the same room.

With the global pandemic and their new work-from-home situation, it is totally changed. Game producer Jacek Zieba revealed that it now takes 5 hours to debug that issue.

The shift did help Zieba in a way. It allowed him to reexamine the studio’s development pipelines and the improvements will be carried over into Bloober’s post-pandemic workflow.

The Medium will launch on January 28 on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
