Cleanse the Orphans is a trial part of Program 3 in The Outlast Trials. In this trial, players need to perform tasks within the orphanage to make sure that the orphans are converted. Read ahead as we go through the tasks in order to complete the Cleanse the Orphans challenge in The Outlast Trials.
Cleanse the Orphans Main Objective: Education establishes obedience and Faith makes it manifest. Teach the children, give them First Communion, and make them ours.
The Outlast Trials: Cleanse the Orphans Trial Walkthrough
For this trial, you will be doing tasks within the orphanage. The area is small; however, there are a few floors, and some rooms and corridors are tight. Mother Gooseberry will be making her rounds in the area along with other enemies, so do your best to not get caught.
Enter the Orphanage
You will start just outside the gates of the orphanage. Make your way to the porch at the entrance to proceed.
Reach the Radio Room
Enter the orphanage, and you’ll see Mother Gooseberry behind the reception desk in the lobby. She won’t be catching up to you yet until later. Make your way up the stairs and into the radio room.
Broadcast the Religious Station
Go to the broadcaster on the wall, where you will play a minigame. You will have to dial in the right frequency by twisting the knobs. There is a red wave on the screen that serves as your guide as you try to make the green wave match up with it.
Tune Radio Receivers in the Dorms
After getting the right frequency, you will need to tune two receivers somewhere in the orphanage. As with the broadcaster, you will have to move the dials to match the frequency of the tuners.
Return to the Reception Desk (Call for morning classes)
Head back down to the lobby and enter the reception desk. Push the button near the whiteboard.
Restore religious curriculum (Swap film reels in classrooms)
From the reception desk, head into the classrooms to the left and into the film depot. Pick up one of the two film reels and bring it over to the cage. Head outside and open the cage to get the film reel.
Next, head to a classroom that is showing a film. Put the reel into the classroom’s cage and get it from the other side. Then, replace the reel that’s currently on the projector. Do it one more time in another classroom to complete the task.
Return to the Reception Desk (Call for prayers at Chapel)
Go back to the reception desk again and hit the button for the next task.
Stop the blasphemers in the Chapel
Follow the path on the right to the chapel. Inside the chapel, head to the jukebox to turn it off.
Power up Generators in the Chapel basement (Find keys in corpses then unlock saw handles)
Before heading into the next path that opens up, look at both of the monitors on top of them to get a clue on where to find the keys. Then you can either go into the basement first to power up the generator or look up the corpses where the keys are hidden.
Similar to the previous generator tasks, you will have to look for the fuel tank and carry it over to the generator. You won’t be able to run or hide while holding the tank, so be careful when getting chased. Once on the generator, flip up the switches on both sides of it, then crank up the generator.
As for the keys, look for the corpses that have them. Pay attention to the tattoos on their bodies and make sure that they match the icons shown on the monitors. Then head back to the chapel to run on the saw.
Serve the body of Christ (Chop his legs off)
You will have to operate the saw and manually chop off the legs of the crucified man.
Regroup in the Chapel (Start the Communion)
Head over to the other side of the chapel and press the button.
Exit the Trial
After witnessing the communion, head back into the lobby and towards the shuttles. Press the button to call the shuttle and survive until it comes, then head into the shuttle to complete the task.

- Random cosmetic
- Random cell decoration
- XP and $ based on rating
