Supermassive Games has shared the reason for the delay of The Quarry multiplayer and it is no ordinary one.
The Quarry Multiplayer Delay Reason
The next entry of Supermassive Games’ popular horror series has recently launched, but initially, it did not have multiplayer. The reason for this is the ongoing war in Ukraine, it was affected by it. The Quarry Creative Director Will Byles revealed the reason for pushing back The Quarry multiplayer component.
“We had a bit of a weird thing with the multiplayer because… part of our team is based out in the Ukraine,” Byles says. “So we had to delay the multiplayer because they had to move.”
Last month, Supermassive Games announced the delay of the online multiplayer feature, but did not share specific details of it. At that time, they said they would add the online multiplayer on July 8, 2022, which is still on track according to Byles. He actually revealed that the mode is already completed, but they servers they worked on had to be moved from Kyiv, Ukraine to Warsaw Poland, obviously for safety.
“So we had to move the server from Kyiv up into Warsaw and those guys had to get out there cause it was obviously really dangerous,” Byles says. “It’s literally going to be a couple of weeks. It is actually done. It has to go through testing now.”
The Quarry is not the only one affected by the war. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Replaced, Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp and Little Orpheus have pushed back their launches due to the war.
The Quarry is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
