Game studio CD Projekt RED might be asking for help to make the next-gen upgrades for The Witcher 3 from PC modders.
A PC modder by the name of HalkHogan who is also the creator of The Witcher 3 HD Rework mod has made an announcement on the Nexus Mods page. It is about how CDPR reached out to him and wanted to “cooperate” for a certain project, which is likely the next-gen upgrade. Here’s his statement:
It’s been a long time since the last video. I know I announced a new HDRP preview in early March but I was silent the whole time. Sorry for that.
But in return, I have some good news, and the reasons why I was quiet and why I don’t have too much to show. I think the most important news is that I got an official message from CDPR about cooperation. While it’s not certain yet, it’s very likely that HDRP will be included in the official next generation update. I will inform you what’s next.
While it is still not set in stone, this is big news for the fans since most of them know already the work of this particular modder. CD Projekt RED also confirmed this with media outlet Kotaku and even revealed that they are actually talking to other modders for the upgrade. Still, nothing is certain yet and no one has signed up for anything for now.
The Witcher 3 is now available on PC, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The free next-gen upgrades could launch later this year.
