CD Projekt RED has recently confirmed that the most popular video game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has now reached a whole new sales milestone.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Reaches New Milestone After Almost a Decade

The first launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt way back in 2015 was quite successful at the time it sold 1.7 million units in its first week worldwide. It sold 28 million copies three years ago since its first launch in May 2015. Today, it has overcome those old milestones and set a new one this time around. The game that has launched on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch has now sold over 50 million copies worldwide.

Whole The Witcher Franchise Also Gains Big Milestone

CD Projekt RED also confirmed that the whole series has now surpassed 75 million copies sold. This combines all titles which are The Witcher (2007), The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (2011), and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015). Compared to the studio’s other title which had a controversial launch, Cyberpunk 2077 sold over 13 million copies on day one. While the sales were strong, it followed with bad criticism due to the game being riddled with bugs and game-breaking issues.

Why The Witcher 3 Still Gaining More Sales

The Witcher 3 is still popular among fans and the gaming community due to its gameplay that still stands today, great story, and visuals that recently got upgraded for modern machines. It is still going strong and possibly going to gain more sales in the coming years.

    Future The Witcher Projects

CDPR is now working on various new entries of The Witcher series, which are currently called in codenames. One of those is Project Polaris which is presumed to be the next story of The Witcher main series, The Witcher 4. It is estimated to launch sometime in early 2025 and has already started pre-production last year.

The Witcher 3 is still a masterpiece of a Triple-A game and will continue to do so for a few more years. Until the next entry launches, the third entry will stand strong as the most popular title of the series.

The Witcher 3 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
