Alongside the announcement, the studio released a new behind-the-scenes development video highlighting the game’s ongoing technical progress and revealing collaborations with Epic Games through Unreal Engine and NVIDIA.
According to Eclipse Glow Games, the partnerships are focused on improving performance optimization and pushing the game’s visual fidelity across a variety of hardware configurations. The development video dives into several technical areas, including CPU and GPU optimization, animation improvements, path tracing implementation, and upscaling technology. The team also discussed the creation of a new Nanite-based hierarchical system used to build the game’s massive knight enemies, which are central to Tides of Annihilation’s fantasy world.
Developers from both Eclipse Glow Games and Unreal Engine China appeared in the presentation to discuss the technical side of development and the tools being used to bring the game’s large-scale environments and creatures to life.
Tides of Annihilation is a single-player fantasy action-adventure game currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
