TV Asahi Releases Top 100 Video Games List Voted by Japanese Users

TV Asashi recently announced the results of their Video Game General Election, wherein 50,000 Japanese citizens voted for their favorite game. Courtesy of gamestalk.net, the list of games included popular titles ranging as far back the NES era.

Unsparingly, the vast majority of the list is dominated by Japanese games, both known internationally and those that haven’t had an international release. Almost all the main line Pokemon titles are included, as well as nearly all the numbered Final Fantasy games. The same can also be said for both the Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest series.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild nabbed the top spot at #1.

As for international games – Dead by Daylight (#59), Apex Legends (#30), and Minecraft (#20) made the cut. Considering how big these games are in the Twitch and Vtuber scenes, can’t say that I’m all that surprised.

What’s surprising is the fact that Tetris got so far up the list (#25). And even higher still is UNDERTALE (#13).

As a final note, Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch’s latest Samurai inspired game, managed to get #66.

Here is the complete list of top 100 games:
