It has been confirmed that Xbox 360 Store will be closing its doors next year but it has one perk to be happy about.
This coming November 2023 will mark 18 years since the Xbox 360 console was released to the public. It started a whole new generation of games and connected gaming for the first time with friends around the world. It introduced great classics like Kameo, Gears of War, Fable 2, and more.
Next year though, there will be changes with the Xbox 360 experience:
- On July 29, 2024, Xbox will stop supporting the ability to purchase new games, DLC, and other entertainment content from the Xbox 360 Store on the console and the Xbox 360 Marketplace (marketplace.xbox.com)
- Related to this change, the Microsoft Movies & TV app will no longer function on Xbox 360, which means TV and movie content will no longer be viewable on your Xbox 360 after July 29th, 2024.
Between now and July 2024, players can still continue purchasing games and DLC from the Xbox 360 and at the Xbox 360 Marketplace.
The new change to the Xbox 360 will not affect the ability to play the games or DLC that have been purchased by the player. Xbox 360 game content can still be played, not only on the Xbox 360 console but also Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles via backward compatibility.
