After releasing this week’s two free titles, Epic Games Store has now revealed the next two which are XCOM 2 and Insurmountable.
Both two titles will be free to redeem on the Epic Games Store starting April 14 until April 21, 2022. By then, Rogue Legacy and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter will return to having regular prices at that point. Better redeem this week’s free games first or else you will regret it.
Insurmountable is a mountain climbing video game but with a twist: it has roguelike features! If you make a mistake in climbing and fall to your death, that is permadeath and will have to begin their adventures again from the start. Also, the environment is procedurally created, which means no two climbs are the same. Every mountain will have various dangers.
XCOM 2, however, is a title that many strategy RPG fans are looking forward to. It is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown that won Game of the Year in 2012. It lets you create your own squad, train them, upgrade their weapons and gear, rescue or recruit friends, and defeat the alien invaders. Heavily improved from its predecessor and visually better as well.
From the Epic Games Store though, it seems the free version is only the base game only. However, there is an option for players to upgrade to the XCOM 2 Collection version which will include the base game, War of the Chosen expansion, and the 4 DLC packs including Resistance Warrior Pack, Anarchy’s Children, Alien Hunters, and Shen’s Last Gift.
