It has been confirmed that The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom villain Ganondorf is going to be voiced by a famous veteran voice actor.

Veteran anime and video game voice actor Matthew Mercer has recently confirmed that he will be playing the big bad villain Ganondorf in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. He announced this latest role on his Twitter account and calls it “an immense honor”.

I just got the go-ahead from Nintendo, so I can FINALLY announce my absolute pleasure to be voicing Ganondorf in the Legend of #Zelda : #TearsoftheKingdom.

“I just got the go-ahead from Nintendo, so I can finally announce my absolute pleasure to be voicing Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom,” Mercer said. “An immense honor that I have thrown myself into doing justice.”

Mercer is quite famous for his many roles in anime and video games. In anime, his roles include Levi Ackerman in Attack on Titan, Jotaro Kujo in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Trafalgar Law in One Piece, and Falco in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

In video games, Mercer is popularly known for his role in Resident Evil 6 as Leon. He is also known for Fire Emblem Awakening as Chrom, Cole Cassidy aka Jesse McCree in Overwatch, Ira in Kingdom Hearts, and MacCready in Fallout 4.

Ganondorf was finally revealed for the first time in the pre-launch trailer of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom yesterday. The trailer is quite liked by the gaming community, but it is the villain’s first appearance that had some fans “thirsting” for him.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom launches on May 12, 2023 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
