Tower of Fantasy Simulacra Awakening cover

Simulacra Awakening is the process of improving and upgrading the Simulacrum, or “characters”, in Tower of Fantasy. This is akin to the friendship system in most RPGs where players can give other playable characters gifts to increase their affinity towards them, unlocking other features such as cosmetics, special dialogues, or special traits and skills.

The Simulacra System is a feature where players can play as certain characters by creating a near perfect simulation of them, which will then be projected towards the main character. Basically, the main character is just wearing an “A.I. holographic suit”, in contrast to other games where players play as the characters themselves. Nevertheless, these Simulacra can still be given gifts as a way to raise their affinity, and eventually awaken their special traits.

How to do Simulacra Awakening in Tower of Fantasy

To awaken Simulacra, you first have to obtain gifts from purchasing gift boxes in the Commissary, either through the Crystal Dust Store or through the Points Store. There are three different tiers of gift boxes that give varying amounts of Awakening Points, which will be explained later on.

Once a gift box is obtained, go to the Backpack and use it to select a gift from that specific tier. Each gift will have several tags, and in order to get the most Awakening Points, these tags must match the preferred tags of the Simulacrum that will be receiving it. Preferred gifts will give +50% Awakening Points on each tier:

  • Special Gifts: 40 Awakening Points (60 if preferred)
  • Fine Gifts: 20 Awakening Points (30 if preferred)
  • Small gifts: 10 Awakening Points (15 if preferred)

After selecting a gift, you can then also use it from the Backpack, or go to the Simulacrum page and select the Awaken Menu on the left side of the screen. You can then select the Simulacrum that you have obtained and give them the gift, which will then raise their Awakening Level.

It’s important to remember that the main character (custom character) follows a different progression system, and therefore this progression system only applies to the Simulacra.

Recollection Rewards or Awakening Level

Once a Simulacrum obtains a certain amount of Awakening Points, rewards will be obtained from the Recollections Rewards, also known as reaching an Awakening Level. The rewards range from avatars, logs, and the most important of all: traits. All Simulacra follow the same Awakening progression, with the same kinds of rewards given in each level:

  • 200 points: Avatar
  • 600 points: Log
  • 1200 points: Trait
  • 2000 points Log
  • 3000 points: Log

How to unlock Awakening Skin (Weapon Advancement)

SSR Simulacra have alternate Awakening Skins that can be unlocked when they reach three stars. Although they are known as Awakening Skins, their method of unlocking is different from the method discussed above.

To unlock their Awakening Skins, you must acquire three additional copies of the same weapon wielded by the Simulacra to get their respective fusion cores, and use these copies to Advance the weapon to three stars. Doing so will also increase the Simulacra’s Rank to Rank III and will unlock their alternate skin and splash art.

How to get Gifts for free

Other than purchasing the gifts from the Commissary, there are two more ways to get gifts for free. These can be done daily, however the gifts received can be at random or selected from a set.

  • Daily gifts from Hopkins: Hopkins can be found in the Black Market located at Banges. He will make you choose between two boxes which can contain gifts of different tiers.
  • Crane Game: The Crane Game can be found on the floating Cetus Island at Navia. Three tries can be done daily, with each try allowing several attempts at grabbing a toy from a pile within a 1-minute time limit.
