The Evil Within 2 Will Have Larger Maps For Players To Explore

The Evil Within 2 is getting more and more exciting as it slowly approach its launch date this October. According to the previous report we made, players will have more freedom in The Evil Within 2 and that the studio is focused on bringing a better narrative. But that’s not all, The Evil Within 2 will also have “bigger” maps for players to explore.

Talking with IGN, the game director John Johanas elaborated more about The Evil Within 2 being more “open” than the previous installment. He cited that there will be bigger maps in the game where players will get to explore before proceeding to the next area.

[alert type=white ]”The Evil Within 2 isn’t an open world game, but has sections where the maps get very large and open up a bunch of options for you. From an actual landmass perspective it’s the biggest map we’ve ever put together, but what it does is allow you to explore or prepare as much as you’d like before you want to proceed with the story. There are still linear sections and points of no-return, but for a good portion of the game you can backtrack and search for side objections.”[/alert]

John also confirmed that The Evil Within 2 will retain the “sense of disorientation” since it’s a key part of the franchise. However, John noted that it won’t be as “jarring” like from the first game.

[alert type=white ]”Shifting realities is a key part of the franchise and it exists in the game again, however thematically it won’t be as jarring as it was in the first game. Even with the disorientation, this time there’s a bit more logic to when and how it happens”[/alert]

The Evil Within 2 will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this October.
