A new report has revealed that Hogwarts Legacy has now taken the top spot from Star Wars Jedi Survivor from the top of a sales chart.
In the first half of 2023 so far, Hogwarts Legacy and Star Wars Jedi Survivor are both the biggest games to launch. Both have mostly gotten great reviews from critics and players at launch. The former on PS5 got 84 on Metacritic while the latter had 86 only on PS5 since the PC versions had so many problems on launch. Hogwarts Legacy launched earlier so it was expected that it would have deteriorated sales numbers compared to Star Wars Jedi Survivor that got released recently. Instead, there’s a twist.
According to a new report by GamesIndustry.com, Hogwarts Legacy is now the best-selling game in the UK last week, which has now toppled other top-listed games like Star Wars Jedi Survivor and Dead Island 2. It was given a boost after the release of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game which actually works well on the old-gen consoles. It was also mentioned that Hogwarts Legacy on the previous gen is the fourth biggest launch in the UK, which is just Star Wars Jedi Survivor and Resident Evil 4 Remake.
The report does clarify that this data is based on the physical game sales of the game in the UK. If digital sales were included, this could have a different outcome.
Hogwarts Legacy is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S with an upcoming Nintendo Switch version.
