A new report confirms that the free-to-play battle royale Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodhunt will stop its development soon.
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodhunt was first launched in April 2022 after months of early access. The game is set in the original pen-and-paper RPG universe where players compete against 48 other players. They can use guns, swords, and other weapons they can find on the field.
Developer Sharkmob revealed on Monday that development for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodhunt will now stop development. Since it could not reach the required number of players, the development will be halted. Servers will still remain active and monetization will be turned off for players who will still play.
Aside from the servers staying online, an in-game voting system will be implemented in order to keep the game fresh. Since monetization will be halted, the developers are now looking for a way to implement a new method to earn in-game tokens more easily to let players continue to play and unlock cosmetics afterward.
“Ever since launch, we have been on a journey to excite and delight our players, however, while we have an amazing and very engaged community, we haven’t been able to reach the critical mass needed to sustain development,” the developers said on an official blog post. “This has led us to the decision to stop further development of Bloodhunt.
“With that said, Bloodhunt servers will stay up and the game will remain available to play. Our aim is to keep the servers going for as long as we have an active player base and community.”
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodhunt is now available on PC and PS5.
